Demented Shoe-Lust

Two words:

INFLATABLE TARDIS
(Alright, so it's one word and an acronym)

Also, red sequined Converse:

I can't decide whether to love or hate them. Sequins are so not me...but they're so skate!Dorothy I'm actually rather wanting them. The question is though: can I pull them off? *thinks*

Oh Dear *gulp*

Just posted my fic for 30 Days of Neville over at

[info]xnevillelovingx

It's a bit (or, well, alot, lol) wrong. But we'll see how we go, right? I think we will perhaps return to normal Neville-programming for the free day on the 30th, haha.

Is it just me, or does anyone else get incredibly nervous about the posting over at [info]rs_games? It's bloody nerve-wracking, this waiting to have work posted. Graargh. :P

(No) Sense and Sensibility

Random fannish things today...

I finished watching the BBC's 2008 production of Sense and Sensibility last night.
*Swoon*
I think it may be in line for about a gazillion re-views before its DVD release. Andrew Davies, who did such a fab job with the 1995 Pride and Prejudice, did another fine job in penning this adaptation.

Speaking of Pride and Prejudice, I clearly need a picture of punk!Colin Firth from Mamma Mia!. That needs to happen, haha.

Also - Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog?
DVD NOW.
Please and thank you :P

Clown Chic? ;)

The video for Robots in Disguise's The Tears (which is, I reckon, one of the standout tracks of the latest album) is out. The make-up and costume is awesome. Plus, Fielding's crazy eyes (shades of Tony Harrison at the end of Party, anyone?). Much heart-age.

Sneaky!Dee and slag!Noel to the max - what's not to love?

17th Jul, 2008

Been listening to a ridiculous amount of The Libertines lately. It's quite wonderful, sort of re-discovering them after not having listened to them much since about 2004.
Also, I seem to have developed a taste to Pete/Carl RPS. Anyway, I found this and it's gorgeous: Libertines and The Velveteen Rabbit and some stunning description (a few typos, but I adore it nonetheless).
blame thank the Boosh for instigating this real-person slash fixation of late (oh Noelian, in all your slashy goodness, lol).

Oh crap! I just realised it's only four days till my posting date for 30 Days of Neville! ("Time management? Ria? I don't believe you've met...").
Better get cracking. Now, to write slashy Neville, or Neville/Ginny (or, maybe I'll write that Neville/Ginny/Luna that's been hovering about in my brain for a while? Hmm...).

Movie Squee-age

Though, oddly, not Boosh-related, haha.

Nope. This time it's about the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Which is brilliant. And one of my fave books ever.

EVER EVER.

While I'm not really keen on Viggo Mortensen generally, I can see it, which is a good start. Plus, you know, Guy Pearce and Robert Duvall doesn't hurt either. It sounds really promising and I'm quite excited and look, it's a picture:

So yes. The Road, McCarthy, Guy Pearce, squee-age!

The Bunny and the Bull

I just died from excitement (that's right - I'm talking to you from beyond the grave, muahahahaha...)

Fielding and Barratt and Ayoade, OH MY!

Uh-Oh, Spaghetti-os...

Nothing serious, I just sort of forgot I signed up to write a fic for the Sirius/Remus Fuh-Q Fest...due tomorrow, lol. Still, got it started and am about halfway through. Sure, it's shameless filth, but what can you do? (I mean, apart from, you know, plot - but that's just crazy talk, people!).

So...anyone interested in performing a last minute beta in the next day or so? I'll love you forever and ever and ever (hmm, that's probably more a deterrent now that I think of it *ponders...*)

This is completely unrelated, but I've had 'Rosanna' by Toto stuck in my head AAAAAALL day.
Which is a bit random.

Woot! (And some slashy weirdness...)

[info]rs_games Round 2 fic done!
And not in a partcularly desperate, frantic rush. Hopefully this means it will be better (hopefully, haha, though I wouldn't count on it. 'S OK I guess...).

This is a bit random but...I was watching 'Party' from season three of Boosh last night, and I don't know how, but my brain went to a very strange Top Gear place: kind of like, Vince/Howard on the roof was equivalent to Hammond/May and Denis the Head Shaman was Jezza looking on. I don't know why, but I can so hear him saying, "I need to go away and re-think a few basic principles."

I guess this is what  happens when you watch too much Boosh, Top Gear (despite my complete lack of interest in cars - I mean, I don't even drive) and read waaaay too much slash, lol.

I will write a drabble (or Drawble-doodle) for the first five commenters to request one. In return, they have to post this in their journal (if they want). You may request the character and/or the pairing and give a prompt.

Ooh, please do prompt me! I can't come up with my own ideas, I need yours, people! ;)

*twiddles thumbs in patient hope*

20th Jun, 2008

Picked up Season Five of Oz for Dad for his birthday.

Three guesses what I'm doing this weekend, haha. ;)

Oh yeah. And, um, some research (Shakespeare's philosophy and the whole decentring of man and that sort of bleak disillusionment that typified the Jacobean period, or something)...yeah.

Anyway, some fandom/fanfiction related rambling...

Started on my R/S Games fic, yay! I have no story as yet, but I do have the beginnings of the middle of the thing (about 500 words at the momento, which is weird cos it's not even due till next week - egads! Somewhat organised Ria! Ironically, more organised for this than for school assignments, lol), so that's alright. Also, my HP Summersmut submission is also underway. Now, just got to get onto the Sirius/Remus Fuh-Q Fest and I'll be in business.

Plus, I've finally managed to finish an itty bitty Noel/Julian ficlet that I started aaaages ago. Yay! I'm not convinced on the last little bit, think I'll go back to it and re-jig a little later tonight but it's pretty much done. It's disgustingly fluffy, lol. (This is what happens when you spend a childhood watching Disney movies and an adolescence listening to The Ataris).

[info]creamsicklesky gave me a D...

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

Dancing in the Dark - Bruce Springsteen
Death of an Interior Decorator - Death Cab For Cutie
Degenerate - Blink 182
Disco 2000 - Pulp
Degausser - Brand New

All uploaded, actually. Click song title if you feel so inclined.
It is a gripping life I do lead, lol ;)

Julian's 'Bollo' dancing is poetry in motion. POETRY.

ALL kinds of awesome.

Th-think About It

They're turning kids into slaves just to make cheaper sneakers,
But what's goin' on 'cos the sneakers don't seem that much cheaper.
Why are we still paying so much for sneakers
When they're being made by little slave kids?

Do not listen to Flight of the Conchords at the gym. Laughter is bad for the running.

So.

[info]hp_wankfest is officially over (now that was a good time, lol). There's been some gorgeous fic and art prodcued, it is well worth checking out. The Lockhart-centric pieces are especially spectacular ;)

Not included in that bracket of wankfest-y goodness is my shamefully shoddy piece:

Minerva McGonagall in the Room of Requirement with a mirror...

Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings...

(OK, yes - I titled this entry with something actually from Through the Looking-Glass, but whatever, lol).

You're Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!

by Lewis Carroll

After stumbling down the wrong turn in life, you've had your mind
opened to a number of strange and curious things. As life grows curiouser and curiouser,
you have to ask yourself what's real and what's the picture of illusion. Little is coming
to your aid in discerning fantasy from fact, but the line between them is so blurry that
it's starting not to matter. Be careful around rabbit holes and those who smile too much,
and just avoid hat shops altogether.
